Danny Miller returns to the ITV soap as Aaron Dingle was welcomed by fans of Emmerdale, some viewers have seen a problem with the plot. As part of celebrations for the soap’s 50th anniversary, the actor is making a comeback to the show a year after he left.
Emmerdale viewers saw a problem with the storyline surrounding Aaron Dingle’s homecoming when Danny Miller was recast in the part.
After his half-sister Liv was falsely convicted of Ben Tucker’s murder, Aaron fled the town a year ago. After the birth of his baby Albert, Danny decided to leave the programme and enter the I’m a Celebrity castle.
While Aaron was gone, he went on an exciting journey, but now he’s returning to make things up with his sibling. When Aaron got into an altercation with the villainous Terry, Harriet had to make an arrest.
When news broke that Danny would be returning to the soap, viewers were ecstatic.
“One fan tweeted, “Am I the only one that yelled so loud when they saw Aaron I’m so thrilled he’s back even if it’s only for a few episodes @DannyBMiller, wish you was coming back full time #Emmerdale.
Added another, “THE KING IS BACK @DannyBMiller #Emmerdale.”
A third person penned, “And with that Aaron Dingle is back in the room… well in Mill Cottage his house while the drama begins again,” and a fourth person wrote: “When Aaron returns home, he is thrust into a fight. In the name of safety, #Emmerdale, my big brother mode has been engaged.”
Some viewers, however, noticed a plot hole when Harriet questioned Aaron about whether or not he was defending himself when he stopped Terry from attacking his half-sister.
Another wrote, “Typical copper arresting the guy for beating up a burglar who harmed your family #Emmerdale,” while one said, “Aaron is innocent he was only protecting for his sister Terry deserved to be beaten up shame on you Harriet the town witch.”
There was a third who penned: “Aaron shouldn’t be arrested because Terry broke into the house and attacked Liv, right? That Aaron was on the defensive?”
Prior to his return to the show, Danny told The Mirror that he was “nervous” about making the trip.
Danny Miller speaking to The Mirror said, “It caused a lot of tension and nerves. The reason I married Steph was because she is so wonderful and constantly helps me relax. For example, the day before I returned to Emmerdale, I told her, “I’m feeling incredibly anxious.” We’re always honest with each other about how we feel.
“I considered getting a hotel room the night before, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep there. Without her, I’m sure I would have been a nervous wreck. I recently took a year off, so I haven’t had any mental stimulation in that regard for a full year.”
When asked why he decided to return to the soap, Danny said it was all thanks to the dramatic return storyline for Aaron.
“This couldn’t have come at a worse moment. A total stranger walks into his home, and he realises that it might be anyone. Aaron, though, is in a panic and responds by punching as usual. This is interrupted by Harriet’s entrance, leaving her with little alternative but to place him under arrest “The man was generous with his information.
