Phillip Schofield departure as the public face of auto parts retailer We Buy Any Car was revealed last week, and now viral sensation and TikTok star Mufasa has been spotted filming an ad for the company.
Following the announcement that TV host Phillip Schofield has left the company, it has been “announced” who will replace him in future We Buy Any Car commercials.
Phillip Schofield, 60, who had been featured in advertisements for the auto parts manufacturer for years, was revealed to have departed from his role as the company’s “face” just last week.
This was revealed after it was found that the company had erased images of Prince Phillip from his profile page after he was wrongly accused of cutting the line to view the late Queen’s coffin.
Reports have surfaced that TikTok singer Mufasa is replacing him in the advertising, despite the fact that We Buy Any Car has insisted that the decision to split ways was made before the incident.
Mufasa, whose real name is Jeff Obeng, has more than 892,000 fans on the platform because to his popular dance videos.
The US-based TikTok star was spotted yesterday (October 5) filming sequences for the brand’s new commercial in front of a We Buy Any Car location.
On set, he was sporting his typical colourful getup: an orange and green shirt, bright red shoes, brown loafers, and black socks.
He wears the same attire in nearly all of his social media videos, and his 2019 TikTok post has already received nearly 5 million likes.
Photos obtained this week during filming of the new commercial show him dancing on the forecourt of the automobile buying business.
A representative for the firm said, “Mufasa is just what the brand needs to infuse some enthusiasm into the advertisements after the reaction following ‘queue-gate.'”
Bosses “had to make a hasty decision after Schofield was dismissed,” and “the hope is that a TikTok star will also appeal to a younger audience,” they added.
Mufasa has become a viral sensation in recent years because to videos of him dancing next to a moving automobile.
Also, he is well-known for his work with fellow TikTok star Hypeman (real name: C.T. Moody) on the hit single “Friday” by Riton and Nightcrawlers.
Prior to the announcement that he would no longer be the face of the brand, Philip had appeared in promotional material for We Buy Any Car, including television advertisements, for several years.
We Buy Any Car’s spokesman explained the new ads by saying the company and Phillip “decided earlier this year that [their] campaign would come to an end in 2022,” explaining the reason for the switch.
They had worked together for nearly five years, and a spokeswoman added, “The decision was made prior to any current headlines surrounding Phillip.”
