While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did get married on May 19, 2018, they may have already taken their romance to the next level before news of their engagement became public.
After dating for slightly over a year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their engagement official in November 2017. Nonetheless, a new book claims the two got “engaged in secret” months before the public announcement.
According to royal researcher Valentine Low’s new book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown, the pair became engaged four months before the formal Palace announcement. It is speculated that Harry and Meghan’s rapid courtship began in July of 2016. If what Ms Low says is accurate, the pair got engaged after dating for less than a year.
The couple made their engagement news public and then met with the media outside Kensington Palace.
In response to a question about the duke’s proposal’s level of romance, that person received the cheerful reply, “Of course it was.”
In response to a follow-up question on when Harry realised that Mary was the one, Harry said, “From the moment we first met.”
The Duchess accepted the proposal “early this month,” according to the statement issued by the royal household.
He proposed to Meghan Markle in London earlier this month, and she accepted. Prince Harry has told the Queen and his immediate relatives.
It has been reported that “Prince Harry has also sought and gotten the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”
Ms Low, however, has subsequently alleged that the couple may have gotten engaged four months earlier than the statement implies.
If this is the case, then Meghan’s “yes” on the cover of Vanity Fair when asked if she was dating Harry was a foregone conclusion.
The royal author has stated that the couple did not wish for an immediate announcement of their engagement.
She insisted, however, that everyone in Kensington Palace had known about the momentous news for months before it was made public.
“The interview was, in effect, Meghan’s big launch,” she penned.
This was Meghan putting herself out there in a strong, proactive way, despite the fact that the royal couple (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) were not formally engaged though everyone in Kensington Palace knew they had been quietly engaged since late summer.
