US special forces reportedly conducted a rare operation in a government-held hamlet in Syria’s northeast, killing one individual and capturing others, as reported by state television.

State-run Syrian television reported that American special forces had conducted a rare operation in a government-held village in the country’s northeast, killing one individual and capturing others.
Taking place on Thursday, the operation targeted territory in Hassakeh province shared by government forces and Kurdish militants backed by the United States.
Previous U.S. raids in Syria have targeted members of the Islamic State group; however, Thursday’s operation would be the first known U.S. attack in an area of Syria that is under the control of the government.
Reuters reported that two unnamed security sources had confirmed the mission’s success and that the top ISIS leader had been slain.
Al Mayadeen reports that the name Rakan Abu Hayel has been linked to one of the slain leaders.
Telegram, a Syrian government-run TV station, reported that helicopters had landed in the town of Muluk Saray, but did not specify who had been murdered.
Syria’s state media reported that “US occupying troops carried out a landing operation utilising several helicopters in the village of Muluk Saray in the southern countryside of Qamishli,” resulting in the death of one local resident.
The US Central Command has stated that it has “no information to give at this time.”
Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, a senior member of the terrorist group ISIS, was killed in a meticulously prepared US Special Forces operation in February.
